Tim and I embarked on the Viking Buri around mid-afternoon. Check-in took all of one minute, and we were then shown to our stateroom. The stateroom was very similar to the one on our ocean cruise, just a bit smaller. It will be perfect for us.

Unpacking was easy, and I found a place for everything. Unfortunately, there is no self-service laundry on the ship, but things can be sent out for a rather hefty price. I can wash some things in our bathroom sink, but I decided to send out several items this afternoon.
In reading the Viking Daily, the ship’s newsletter, we discovered what was planned for the remainder of the day – Drinks and Live Music from 5:00-6:00 pm, Safety Instructions at 6:00 pm, Welcome Briefing and Port Talk at 6:30 pm, Dinner at 7:15 pm, and Evening Entertainment at 9:15 pm. We would learn that this schedule would be followed on most every day, with the exception of the Safety Briefing.
The schedule was quite different than our ocean cruise, where things were much less regimented as to time. Also different was how much more social this cruise would be. Here, we joined another couple in the Lounge for the briefing, and then sat with three other couples for dinner. We enjoyed their company, and dinner was excellent.
It may take me a little while to get used to this routine, as well as the socialization, but I think I will enjoy it.
