On our second of two days at sea, I once again began the morning with a lecture. Russell Lee told us everything anyone could possibly want to know about sand in his talk on “Sand: The Story of Civilization…as Told by a Speck.” I had no idea how important this natural resource was to both ancient and modern civilizations. It was quite an interesting story.

Tim and I enjoyed a delicious meal at the Dan-Dan Noodle Bowl Station, another special event in the World Café. This is becoming quite a habit.

Like yesterday, I imagine I spent much of my time working on the blog, in between chatting with guests and the crew of course. I’m not always buried in my laptop!
I had a special treat at dinner tonight, a totally unexpected treat, in fact. Last night, I met our new Executive Pastry Chef Tushar and happened to mention that it would be wonderful if he would put the delicious bread pudding back in the dessert rotation. Tonight, he presented me with an individually prepared bread pudding, made from croissants. Wow! Once again, I was totally surprised and flabbergasted by the thoughtfulness of the Viking crew.
