Today is our final day at sea before five port days in New Zealand. I think all of us are looking forward to being on land again.
It seems like today marked the last talk for many of our guest lecturers, who will depart in Sydney. Although I’m sure we will enjoy the new contingent who will join us for the next segment of our cruise, I am sad to see many of these speakers depart. They have been excellent.
Simon and Lisa Thomas presented their last workshop on “Simple but Powerful Editing,” with a discussion on processing photos. I continue to learn so much about photography from them and will miss their lively presentations.

For lunch today, the special event was a Gyros Station. I tried the lamb, although chicken was also available, and the gyro was delicious. It was different from ones I’ve had in the past, but it was so good.

We had a treat this afternoon when the Viking Sky Guest Choir, led by Cruise Director Matt and Assistant Cruise Director Tara, showcased a selection of four songs. The choir members had excellent voices, and everyone enjoyed the music, including Captain Markus, who stayed for the entire show.

After catching up on laundry, Tim and I had an appointment with Elena, the Travel Consultant, and we may have booked another cruise. I’ll let you know in a day or so.
Patrick Goodness presented his final lecture, “New Zealand – Myths and Legends of the Māori.” I would guess that Patrick has been the favorite lecturer on board, despite, or because of, the sometimes-controversial religious comparisons he makes. His talks have made me look at religion in an entirely different way and appreciate all its many variations.
Patrick's lectures (these and others) are available on YouTube, free of charge. You might want to check them out for yourselves.

Patrick's Final Message For Us |
I truly hope you enjoy New Zealand. I've had some friends who have visited there and loved it. When their son grew up he took a job there. So must be a great place.
ReplyDeleteSo I've officially read all your posts. It's been a lovely afternoon catching up and I'm living thru you. Can't wait for the rest of your trip. From, your cousin in cold, snowy and windy WV. Come on Summer! :D
