Tim is always willing to share his things with me, but this time, he really didn’t need to share his cold! I don’t feel bad, but the cough and congestion make sleeping difficult, so I woke up tired. Therefore, since it’s another sea day, I made the decision to stay in my room all day. Feeling a bit under the weather is also a good excuse to simply cocoon for a day, which I need to do from time to time.
Viking TV made it possible for me to watch Simon and Lisa Thomas’ next photography workshop on “Aperture Adventure – Depth of Field.” Aperture priority is an important setting on a camera, but it’s not quite as easy to use on my Android phone. What I need to do is practice, which can be a bit difficult when I have less than a second to capture an image. That seems to be the case more often than not on many of our excursions.

I ordered room service for lunch for the first time and dined on chicken consommé and green tea with lemon and honey, two “cures” for my cold. I did add spring rolls to my order, since they’re one of my favorites.

In between naps, I caught up on Captain Paul Eschenfelder’s talk on “Paradise Undiscovered: Polynesia Before Cook.” It was interesting to hear what life used to be like on the islands we’ll be visiting, but devastating to learn how the arrival of the Europeans decimated the populations.

Although I was sad to miss the Pan Asian Station special dinner event, it was room service again for me. I did enjoy the penne pasta with arrabbiata sauce and an outstanding crème brûlée.
