Day 153 – Bergen, Norway

Today was our third day in Bergen, and the temperature had dropped about 20 degrees since yesterday, with heavy winds. It was still sunny, but I had previously decided to remain on the ship today. Unfortunately, Tim has been fighting another upper respiratory infection and cough and is lying low.

The winds that I noticed this morning are a hint of what we will be experiencing when we leave Bergen this afternoon. Captain Markus even made an announcement that the seas will be very rough this evening and overnight. Although I am rarely bothered by seasickness, even I took a pill just in case.

The sail-away from Bergen was beautiful as we passed rocky islands with only a handful of picturesque houses. Norway is such a beautiful country.

A Beautiful Sail-Away from Bergen

Executive Chef Alastair and his culinary team treated us to a Local Fish Grill special event with several varieties of fish that he had just purchased in Bergen. The Chilean sea bass was divine.

Indeed, conditions were extremely rough tonight, with waves crashing up to our balcony. I’m happy to report that I slept through the whole thing.

It's Rough Out There!
