On a cloudy morning, Viking Sky sailed past the white cliffs of Dover, which rise above the English Channel. Dover Castle, which was founded in the eleventh century, towers over the channel and has been described as the “Key to England,” due to its strategic location and defensive significance throughout history.

Zoomed-In Views of Dover Castle |
Since Tim and I visited Dover three years ago, and since we will be returning to Dover after leaving London, we decided to take a sea day today. We did disembark for a mandatory face-to-face immigration inspection, but we immediately returned to the ship.
I’m not sure what I did today, other than processing photos and working on the blog, but I have no doubt that I threw in at least some relaxation. I’m getting so far behind with the blog that I will need more than one sea day to catch up.
It turned out to be a beautiful day, and the views of the cliffs during the sail-away were much more impressive.
