Viking Sky remained in Mombasa overnight since our stop in Zanzibar had been cancelled some time ago. Although excursions were offered today, I had already decided to stay onboard and rest up from yesterday’s long day. And, that’s exactly what I did. I have nothing of interest to report!
One thing that I did neglect to mention in yesterday’s post was the lovely gift that Hotel General Manager Marcel sent to our room while I was away. His note thanked us “for your kind gesture towards our crew!” and wished Tim a speedy recovery. I haven’t opened the bottle of wine yet, but the treats were much appreciated.

I must admit that it took me aback when people expressed surprise at our giving Tim’s ticket to one of the crew. Tim and I appreciate the crew and all they do for us, and I couldn’t imagine letting that ticket go to waste. Tinashe was so grateful to us, and I’m so happy that Marcel was able to arrange for him to go on such very short notice.
