We returned to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park for dinner at the Gondola Club, an even fancier venue than this morning’s Chasers Club, with an even better view of the field. I was amused to see people waiting in line as long as 20 minutes to get their free cocktails. Luckily, there was virtually no line for food!
I was really looking forward to the Twinkle Twinkle Glow, when tethered balloons ignite their burners and inflate without launching, glowing from within in a display of gorgeous colors. Then, the AfterGlow Fireworks Show was scheduled to light up the sky with a spectacular display to end the evening.
We kept waiting, and I was so disappointed when the Glow was cancelled due to windy weather. Perhaps as a consolation, the organizers treated us to a drone show, which we had missed this morning. A fleet of 300 drones was rearranged to display the New Mexico flag, hot air balloons, red or green chiles, and other New Mexico-themed icons. That was rather cool.
The Drone Show Was Cool |
The fireworks show still went on, and we then returned to the hotel to prepare for another early morning trip back to the Balloon Fiesta.
