Flightseeing Over Fjords and Glacier

After our long day yesterday, I was grateful that today’s excursion was not until 10:45 am. When Tim and I were selecting shore excursions, we had decided to splurge on a flightseeing tour. We both love seaplanes and had taken several flight tours while we were in Alaska.

The weather was looking promising, especially for Bergen, when we were picked up for a short transfer to the nearby town of Sandviken. We met our pilot and guide and boarded our Cessna four-seater plane for a 50-minute tour. I still got a thrill when we took off from the water.

Getting Ready to Board Our Seaplane

And We're Off!

Our seaplane journey took us over the wild, beautiful landscapes of western Norway. We saw the nearby fjords of Bergen, stunning Hardangerfjord, blue glacier lakes, and rugged mountains. We saw the snowcapped mountains in the clouds and the beautiful fjords from above.

Seeing the Norwegian landscape from the air gave us an entirely new perspective on what we had previously experienced on the ground. We could really appreciate the enormity of this rugged, awe-inspiring land.

On our return to base, we flew over the city of Bergen. We had an aerial view of Bryggen and the rest of the city center and even saw Viking Venus docked in the harbor.

Thanks Guys, It Was a Memorable Flight

I couldn’t stop taking photographs during the flight, but I can’t identify any that I've included here. I don’t suppose it really matters though. I have now seen Norway from a bus, car, train, ship, plane, and even on foot. I just can’t seem to get enough of Norway’s breathtaking scenery and want to come back!
